OpenBurhan is a free tool to study the Quran. You can browse the Quran by verses, roots and related words. For each verse you have translation, transliteration and arabic text.
OpenBurhan aims to do the following
- Show how words are being used in the quran so that they maybe translated and understood in a consistent and coherent manner
- Allow easy collation of verses grouped by words or roots.
Whilst it is interesting to analyse every word, one must be very careful with their time. You run the risk of not seeing the forest from the trees. The message of the Quran is simple and can be understood by reading the first chapter alone. So be careful how you live.
Those of you who were familiar with the previous version, will notice some changes to the GUI. The instructions are simple. Just Click on any arabic word in blue, you will then see on the left hand-side links to browse all occurrences of that word, it's root and root-related words.
This is work in development so there will be mistakes. I think 80% of it is right, so thats good enough for now
